Be L.E.Z aware, be
prepared.
As of the 4th February 2008
all heavy diesel vehicles exceeding 12tonnes will have to be
registered with TFL and meet the LEZ standards in order to travel
within in the Low Emission Zone without incurring the £200 a pound LEZ
charge. Lorries between 3.2-12tonnes will be subject to the LEZ
standards as of July 2008.
If your
lorry was first registered as new on of after the 1st October 2001,
then it is assumed to be Euro III and will therefore meet the LEZ
standards.
Preparing for LEZ:
-
Have a particulate filter fitted
- Certify your vehicles emissions
with an REC (Reduced Emissions Certificate) or a LEC (Low Emissions
Certificate). Some engines have sufficiently low particulate matter
emissions that they will meet LEZ 2008 emissions. A list of
eligible engines can be found at
TFL.
- Upgrade your vehicle to a newer model.
Remember the LEZ standards will be raised to Euro IV in 2012.
- Pay the daily £200 LEZ charge.
